Swindon Table Tennis: League Update
GWRSA A vs B a tall order for the B team
Division 1 :
GWRSA B 0 / GWRSA A 10
GWRSA B's Colin Gore was in conciliatory mood when asked about the
result of this week's match against GWRSA A. "We played well, but when
you are against a team like GWRSA A, you really are playing a much
higher level". There's no denying that the A team is made up of some of
the league's finest players. Glen Freeman is currently 7th in the league
averages, Ray Powell is 4th, and Nat Richardson is almost top of the
League, in second position.
But the B team were undeterred by this and played admirably, with no bad
scores on the night and a lot of close games. John Ramsden in particular
was unlucky not to win any of his games, having taken Nat Richardson to
5 sets, Ray Powell to 4, and consistently just losing the deciding point
12-10 to Glen Freeman in 3. John Ramsden and Colin Bendall also put up a
good fight in the doubles, taking Nat and Glen to 4 sets, so perhaps the scoreline of 10-nil
was a little harsh as the conclusion to a very competitive evening.
